Abstract

|
Essential oils are generally capable of being not only antibiotic and anti-carcinogenic, but also sedative effect of stress. Acute toxicity test was carried out before evaluating the relaxation property of stress by essential oils purified from softwood. Acute toxicity test showed that the essential oil purified from Pines densitlore was marginally toxic but those of Pious koraiensis, Chamaecyparis obtuse and Chamaecyparis pisifera were very non-toxic in mice. The essential oils from Pious koreiensis and Chamaecyparis obtuse have the sedative effect of stress by lowering the concentration of cortisol in mice induced by electric stimuli.
